The latency on the internet is how long it takes for a message to get from one place to another.

The important thing about internet connection speeds, or as we call them “Latency,” is that they can indicate certain things and what’s going on with your network environment at any given time.

Latency, also known as ping time or network delay, is the amount of time it takes for data to travel from your computer and back.

Latency can be measured in milliseconds (thousandths of a second), kilohertz (millions hertz) per hour, megabytes/second per day, etcetera.

Latency in a nutshell

1. Latency is the time it takes for data to travel between two points

2. The higher the latency, the slower your connection will be

3. Several factors can cause a high-latency speed test, including distance from server and network congestion

4. An ideal internet connection should have less than 100ms of latency

5. If you’re experiencing high-latency speeds on your computer or mobile device so that you need to contact your isp

Latency in Gaming

In Gaming, latency is significant. The lower this input number, the better your connection will be!. The faster my connection between one place and another, the better my gaming experience will be!

In Gaming, latency is an essential factor in gameplay. If people get low latency connection speed, they shouldn’t worry about lag or game freeze-ups due to poor internet connections.

How to get low latency in Gaming?

1. Install a gaming router

2. Change your computer’s DNS settings

3. Update your graphics card driver

4. Turn off Windows background applications that run in the background (e.g., antivirus)

5. Disable any other programs that are running in the background and not needed for Gaming (e.g., Skype, Netflix, Spotify)

6. Close out of all unnecessary tabs on your browser before playing games to reduce latency
